Some people go right to college after high school; others take a year or more off to work or travel. Which do you think is the better choice?

Going to college right after high school is a lot better, and I prefer doing that than to take some time of to enjoy myself like traveling, or for work. In college you can study abroad and you can travel that way, while still getting an education. You can work while you go to college and make money while get an education. It is smarter to go to college right after high college. If you take time off you are risking a lot. You are risking not getting in to the college that you really want to go to. You also risk not getting into college at all and having to go to a junior college. To me junior college is a waste of time. If you go to college you will have the experience of a lifetime. If you do not go right away and take time off to work because you need to save money to pay for college, you are making a big mistake also. With all the free money that is out here in the world, you can go to college for free. You can get financial aid, scholarships, Cal Grants, student loans, and any other money that you can get your hands on. It just makes the most sense to go to college right after high school, than to take time off.
People say that once you take a break from school, you never go back. This is true. I have seen quite a few people that have taken a break after high school saying, “I tired of school, I am going to take this semester off and start back in the spring semester.” Once they did this, they said they were going to go back in the fall semester, and they kept putting it off. They never did end up going back to school. One of them works at McDonalds now, another at Wing Stop, and the other people work at other jobs that are never going to get them anywhere in their future. They will be trapped in poverty for the rest of their life. If they go to college now they wont have to be in poverty. They will be able to have a good life, and live the “American Dream.”
It is said that in your life, you will never again experience anything like the “college life.” They are the best years of your life. Why would you want to wait to have those great moments? That makes gay sense at all. Go to college right away, do not take time off to work or travel.

Some people think that school cafeterias should be required to provide low-fat and/or vegetarian lunch options to accommodate the eating habits of all the students.

All across America, schools are making changes to better the lives of their students. One thing in particular being the food they serve to them on a daily basis. During lunch or break, certain foods are being sold to students from bags of chips to cookies, hamburger and fries to burritos, and even Gatorade to soda. Kids love these things and probably eat this stuff regularly. It’s what they want and what they will pay money to eat, everyone’s happy right? Wrong. Yes, most kids love the junk food and the greasy pizza from Pizza Hut being served in their cafeterias, but there are kids who do not even eat those things or just simply can’t afford to. When I say afford to, I do not necessarily mean money wise, but health wise. For example, you may have kids at the school who have health issues and can only eat low fat meals or snacks. Well, they go to school five days a week for about eight hours and of course, they have to eat. The select kids could very well bring their own self-made low fat or vegetarian lunches and snacks every day, but what if they forgot their lunch at home, or on the bus, or were too much in hurry to pack it. Should these students have to go eight hours without eating any food because their school does not provide them with a healthier alternative than hamburgers and fries or original flavored Doritos? Every students' needs should be accounted for and considered when it comes anything, especially what goes into their bodies. It’s not fair for the school to overlook certain kids needs because the mass majority would prefer junk food in their vending machines. There are many tasty and healthy alternatives schools can try and circulate into their cafeterias that would satisfy all students’ break and lunch time cravings. For instance, instead of ice cream, how about yogurt parfaits with granola or low fat frozen yogurt, instead of M&M’s maybe some fruit snacks, baked chips substituted for the regular kind. You can even go as far as selling turkey or vegetarian burgers instead of the 100% beef burgers. Having fresh salads or fruit would not be such a bad idea either. You can still have some of the junk food for those kids who just can't possibly go without it and need it, or just have a taste for it once in awhile, but it’s nice to have an option and alternative for the kids whose needs call for those healthier choices or just simply want a change or variety in the kind of food they eat at school. Imputing low fat or vegetarian meals and snacks into schools cafeterias will not hurt anyone. Imputting them could only make things better for everyone. Given the obesity and overweight issues throughout America, what possible harm could any healthier and better changes do to schools that make the switch?

Discuss how conveniences change people's lives

Cars, food, phones, internet, all convenient things almost everyone has available to them at any given time and ready for any given moment when needed. All these conveniences have changed peoples’ lives because over time, those things have become instant and highly depended upon. Because these things are much depended upon, people start getting lazier and less self sufficient and dependent. Who wants to take time out there day to actually go visit someone and just sit down, talk, and enjoy each other’s company when you can shoot them a quick instant text message that takes but only a few seconds out of your day if your quick or give them a five minute call without even seeing their face? Or why would someone want to walk to the store which is only a few streets over when you can drive. If it’s not convenient, people would much rather go without it, no matter what the effect might be.

Discuss the importance of pride in ones work

Taking pride in one’s work tells a lot about a person’s character. It shows that one has the drive to complete a task and do it to the best of their ability. However, many people in today’s society do not realize how important having pride in one’s work is.  Being able to say that you completed something with all your effort tells others that you are dedicated and have respect for yourself. Many naturally talented people get work done just to get praise and acknowledgment from others, but when a person finishes a task for them-even though they may not be as talented as the other, it shows that they have integrity, because it may not be acknowledged.  Yet, all of that would not matter if you don’t get praise because you did it for you. In the real world, people may survive by only doing minimal work, but they will not get far. It is important to take pride in one’s work because it will force your mental self to take the extra step and have initiative in whatever life “throws” your way.

Explain how different modern life would be without computers.

During these times, computers are used for just about anything and everything. You can use a computer for so many different things, from non simple to completely simple. Way back when, computers use to be used for some office work or maybe slight entertainment such as a short game of solitaire or mine sweeper. Now people use computers for entertainment, social networking, communication with other people, work, business, building facilities, homes, offices, cars, and nowadays, even education. You don’t have to leave the house for anything. You can work at home, talk to your friends at home, and go to school at home. EVERYTHING! The day all computers shut down or malfunction is the day the world ends for most people. No one would know exactly what to do because computers do everything for them.

Describe a major environmental problem and what you believe should be done about it

One major environmental problem that we should be really careful about is water scarcity. As much as people would like to think that it is just impossible to run out of water, they are very wrong. Water scarcity has become such a big issue that goes global and affects everyone everywhere. The problem is that we use more water than what is actually returned to the freshwater systems. The USA is one of the large water consuming areas, and given that we live in the US, we are a part of the problem. To help lessen and solve this problem, there are plenty of things people can do on a daily basis. Simple things such as taking five minute showers as opposed to a twenty minute showers, or while washing in the shower, turn the water off until you’re ready to rinse, or when washing dishes, run some water on one side of the sink with soap and use that to wash the dishes, then rinse them all at once so you don’t have to keep the water running and waste it, and even just making sure when you turn off the water, it’s completely turned off and there are no drops running from your nozzle. All those little droplets of water definitely add up. If you have trouble with things like the dripping water or shortening your showers, you can try methods like tightening the nozzle and having a timer to tell you when five minutes is up. Easy right?

Discuss the causes of and problems of teenage smoking

Teen smoking is becoming more and more popular all over the place. It’s also become a huge problem because of the kind of effects it has on young life forms these days and the effects that will catch up to them in the future. It seems like everywhere you go like malls, movies, and grocery stores, you see a group of kids outside smoking without a care in the world who might see them and as if they have been doing this for forever. Why would a 15 year old want to smoke in the first place? Well, if you really get deep into it, you’ll probably find out that most of these teenage smokers come from a home in which they grew up with parents who smoke on a regular basis right in front of them, they think it will make them look older and cooler than what they really are, and maybe they even believe that smoking can calm them down, relieve stress, help them to concentrate, have a good time or any of the dozens of reasons that smokers can come up with to hide the facts. Teens are shortening their lives by choosing to pick up the nasty habit of smoking because of the life threatening effects and problems they open themselves to at an early age. They make themselves victims of heart diseases and complications as they continue to grow up. All smoking is really doing for these teen are giving them problems with their body in the future, and not allowing them to pass drugs tests when they apply for a job.
