More and more farmers and food manufacters are genetically modifying their crops to reduce susceptibility to disease, improve flavor, and reduce costs. Do you think genetically modifying food is a good idea? Why or why not?

When you genetically modifying food, you are changing the form of the food. You can make it look a certain way(make it look perfect so people will be attracted to it). Let's say you have a tomatoe for example. Most organic tomatoes do not look like the ideal, "perfect," tomatoe. It may have a little bruse in it or something. Color may not be right on, or everything will be fine with it, but it just is not a right size. When a farmer or food manufactor genetically modifies the tomatoe, he or she can change anything about the tomatoe to make it look like the "ideal tomatoe." The ideal tomatoe is a nice round bright red good sized tomatoe. When you put the chemicals and modify this tomatoe, you do not know if any person is allergic to these things, so you are taking a big risk with their life. When the farmer or manufactor modifies this tomatoe, they are taking some of the nutrition value out of the tomatoe. So the consumer that eats it may only get barely any, if any at all, nutrition from the genetically modified tomatoe, opposed from the organic tomatoe where you are getting all the nutritients from it. I think food should not have any genetic modifying to it at all.
People need to eat their fruits and vegetables everyday because it is good for their body. The nutrients from the fruits and vegetables that every man, woman, and child is suppose to get, helps them all keep their body healthy and in tip top shape. If they do not get those nutrients then their body will not be in the good health that it should be in, and the imune system will go down causing one to get sick, and be vunerable to deadly diseases. When farmers and food manufactors are genetically modifying food, the food itself loses a lot of the nutrients. The nutritional value of the food goes down, less people eat vegetables, and more people get sick. Some foods can lose all of their nutrients and be basically nothing.
Genetically modifying food is bad. I know it may lower the cost of the food, improve the flavor, and reduce susceptibility to disease, but it takes away from the nutrients that come with that food. To stop the disease, the consumer should wash the food off before eating, and the farmer should take percautions when producing the food. If you want to have a healthy body, and want your children to grow up with healthy bodies and good imune systems, genetically modified foods will be no more. And these foods with good nutrients will be eaten by all. Just stop all of it and the world we know today will be better.
