Discuss reasons for appreciating your parents
As a child, you see your parents as people who just "do", the people who take care of you and meet your every need simply because they don’t have a choice. Well, actually, yes they do. I think most parents are probably heavily taken advantage of and not appreciated enough for all they do for their kids. I know there are a good amount of parents who neglect their parental responsibilities, but, most parents actually do a lot for us and we don’t even recognize and appreciate them for it. For instance, most parents make sure we have a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, food in our stomachs, shoes on our feet, electricity in our house, warm water for our showers, and even (dare I say) an education. They even make sure you have all the extra stuff like cell phones, Ipods, computers, etc. Parents have been "doing" for us kids since day one. They’ve changed diapers, fed us, cleaned us, watched over and protected us, things we couldn’t do for ourselves. They even went beyond all the concrete things of raising us to the intangible things such as love and teaching us values and necessities like right from wrong, good and bad, and the most important, reading, writing, and talking. I think it’s safe to say that if it wasn’t for your parents, you couldn’t even text! Crazy right? Anyways, parents deserve a round of applause and maybe even more special days dedicated just for them.
