In order to atten college out of your home state(the state in which you live in currently and have residency in), you much complete certain tasks. First you, have to get good grades in high school. That is one of the most important things. When applications are open to fill out. Fill it out completely. After that you must get your letters of recommendation done completely. You need 1 from a teacher and one from someone else that knows you well in a professional area. After that you must apply for financial aid. Once you know you are going to be going to the school(you got accepted) you must find housing. Some schools require freshmen to live in the dorms, and some do not. Either way you need to find housing. After that you must find a way out there. If the state that you are going to is close, you can drive there and not have to buy a plane ticket and you can bring more stuff. If the state is far, let's say across the country like North Carolina and you live in California, then you will need to fly. You can bring as much stuff, just mostly clothes and your valuables that you want to bring. That can be pictures or whatever. Once you get out there you can shop for little small things you may need for your living space. College is the best time of your life and experiencing it in a new place I believe is a good way to start off your new independent life.
